Water
We all know flowers need water, but a lot of us are unsure just how much.
- For your arrangements with floral foam we recommend adding some water to your floral foam every second day to keep your flowers fresh. Add water bit by bit until the foam is saturated and stops absorbing the water.
- For your bouquets we always recommend filling your vase about 3/4 full and keeping it around that level. We also recommend changing out your water every second day so your flowers are drinking the freshest water.
Temperature
It is best to keep your flowers in a cool place, avoiding draughts, direct heat or sunlight. We do not recommend putting your flowers in the fridge as our cold rooms are set to 6-10 degrees and your fridge will be too cold. In Summer your flowers are best kept in an air-conditioned room.
Snip Stems
When the stem of a flower is cut, the end starts to callus over time which restricts the amount of water the stem can then drink. This is why florists always recommend snipping about 1cm off the ends of your stems before placing them into fresh water. We always recommend cutting on a sharp angle so the ends of the stems are not flat and sitting directly on the bottom of the vase.
